This is Great…Or is it?

In case many of you are not aware of this, there are pedophiles out there who would love to make molesting children legal.  They believe our laws are depriving children on sex.  Just a reminder, sex can only occur between two consenting adults.  Well, Phillip R. Greaves was recently arrested at his home in Pueblo on a warrant that charges him with violation Florida’s obscentiy law.

Tamara Lush of The Associated Press reports the following:  ” A Colorado man who wrote a how-to-guide for pedophiles was arrested Monday and sent to Florida to face obscenity charges…”  Such a book is designed to teach adult men how to improve their skills….”  The author writes:  “This is my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certain rules for these adults to follow.  I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps liter sentences should they ever be caught.”

The title is The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure.  Amazon has been selling it as a self-published book.  Under public pressure Amazon has caved in and banned the book.

According to TechCrunch this book is the 158,221 best seller on the Kindle.  So far, Amazon is standing firm, but apparently user outcry is getting loud.

The great thing is is that this man has been arrested.  Tamara Lush also writes, “Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said he claimed jurisdiction because Greaves sold and mailed his book to undercover deputies.  ” I was outraged by the content,” Judd said. ” It was clearly a manifesto on how to sexually batter children…You just can’t believe how absolutely disgusting it was.”  ‘Sexually batter’ is a good term, but sex has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with this problem.  The language gets confused because the genitals are the weapons.

Thank God for all the outrage expressed about this.  Such outrage is a righteous anger.  The scriptures are clear about how God feels about hurting children.  Luke 17:1-3 Jesus says “…Things are that cause people to sin are abound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come.  It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.  So watch yourselves. (NIV)  In The Message verse 2 reads “hard temptations are bound to come, but too bad for whoever brings them on!  Better to wear a millstone necklace and take a swim in the deep blue sea than give even one of these dear little ones a hard time.”  Those millstones are huge!  I have seen them in Israel.  They have a hole in the middle just right for a head to be tied to!

Just in case there is some confusion, a child who had been molested has not sinned, but has been sinned against.  The words in The Message “…give even one of these little ones a hard time” I believe ‘a hard time’ is a severe understatement for the damage that has occurred in the brain, mind and heart once a child has been violated in any way.  Sexual violence is the worst damage.

Thank God we still have laws against such evil.  May they not only remain in place but get even tougher.

  1. “…laws depriving children of sex” – what a statement. How do people get to the point where they think that is a rational concept?
