Technology spurs rise in child porn

The above title was written by Linda Godston of the mercury news.  Her email address is lgoldston@mercurynews.com.   I have sent her two emails to ask permission to quote her her article here and have not heard anything back yet.  I am working on the ability to link articles by many writers on the website.  Development is slow, but happening.  This article was published in the newpaper on April 25, 1010.

She says that that the offenders/perpetrators of child pornography are getting younger.  Investigators are not surprised when they find an upstanding citizen of a community who is older getting caught with child pornography.

‘ “We have a suspect right now who’s 15 who has some of the worst child porn I’ve ever seen, involving infants and dead children,” said San Jose police detective Kendra Nunes, who is part of the departments’ child exploitation unit. “It’s scary.” ‘

Hard to read the above?  I invite you all to stop and consider just how much of this is going on all around us.  In our neighborhoods.  In our faith communities.  In our families.  If you do not believe me, I hope you will research the statistics for yourself.  I have given some on my blogs about Child Pornography.  It is a form of rape and sexual violence that we really want to keep our heads buried in the sand about.  But what happens if we stay buried and in denial?  The plague spreads.  It can only get worse when it is a secret.  We do not have to be controlled by the words ‘dead’, ‘infants’, or Child Porn.  We can face them head on and guess what?  They lose the artifical power they have over us and that the enemy of our souls absolutely does not want to happen.

Ms. Goldston goes on to say,’ ” Nunes said she believes the number of people seeking child porn is increasing “because the Internet is so vast.”  And it’s difficult to police one of the most common methods of obtaining or selling child porn:  peer-to-peer file-sharing.” ‘  There is the ability to police it, but not enough officers-manpower to do so.

But at the end of the article Ms. Goldston says that the Internet/technology does not make a single person invincible or invisible.  So, there is hope.  Yes, that glorious word hope.  We do not have to give in to this evil.

No matter what your faith system, I trust that you would support the end of Child Pornography.  So, lets pray!  Yes, PRAY!  If everyone who does not use or participate in this evil would pray there is no limit as to what can change.  My God says in His Word that He is God of the impossible.  Well, I choose to believe that He can end it, He can control if we are willing to begin just by praying and wait and watch what He will do as we faithfully pray as often as possible for Him to do the impossible.  He might invite some of us to work with Him.
