Men Against Sexual Violence (MASV)

There is an organization started and led by men against sexual violence.  It can be found at “”.

What an amazing, wonderful, fantastic, group of men.  They help me give a great sigh of relief.  What they are can change us into a rape-free culture,  just like Dr. Peggy Sanday has researched (previous blog).

So, I promise…

  • To take a stand and never commit, condone, accept, or stay silent about sexual violence.
  • To challenge other men to recognize that they can be powerful without making others powerless
  • To encourage all men to work together with women, using their collective voices and resources to end sexual violence–not only in Pennsylvania but across the nation.”

As a woman, I find the above amazingly hopeful.  As a Christian woman, I am wondering if there are any Christian or faith community leaders who are part of something like it.  We need this movement to be world-wide, not just in the U.S.  South Africa has the highest rate of rape in the world.

    1. Hi Kimothy

As I understand it, MASV is an outgrowth of PCAR, Pennsylvania coalition against rape, http://www/

MASV lists PCAR’s phone number, if you wish to call them for more information. It is 1-888-772-PCAR.

My only personal contact in Pennsylvania is with Dr. Peggy Sanday at the University of Pennsylvania. I have no knowedge whether or not she is connected to PCAR.

I hope you will share what you find out about MASV for the good of all. Good luck.

    2. I sent the following email to PCAR today. I really appreciate your questioning this information. I called PCAR but it was just 5:00 p.m. their time so they were

On your website you have a link to other websites associated with you. One of these is

I have posted information about MASV on my website blogs

I have a blogger who is trying to contact MASV. Today he/she called your office and was told that you had never heard of this organization.

Can this be true when their link is on your site?

Would you please clarify this problem asap? If you are willing to do so as a blog comment it would really be a lot more effective.

      Thank you,

      Sherrill Nielsen, MFT

    3. Hi Kimothy,

The above email was sent back to me. I double checked the address and tried sending it again. Again, it was sent back.

I then left a phone message 1.800.692.7445. I trust we will hear from them tomorrow if all goes well.

    4. Hello All,

I apologize for the communication delay – PCAR’s offices have been closed since late afternoon on Tuesday due to inclement weather. The Training & Technical Assistance Team here will be more than happy to answer any questions about MASV – 1.800.692.7445.
